Sweet Dreams

Coffee Break

Running errands apparently tired Gary out, so mommy took the opportunity to sit outside, read, and have a cup of coffee.

Happy One-Month Birthday!

Yesterday was Gary's one-month birthday.  Daddy and Gary just happened to wear matching outfits.  Also, cousins Kim and Chris came by for dinner.  Gary was a perfect host -- until the poop disaster!  (Don't worry, no pics.)

Down with Disco?

Gary and mommy went into the city last week to meet a friend for lunch.  We all had a fun time, and Gary was in a great mood until Play That Funky Music came on.  It stands to reason that Gary does not care for Wild Cherry -- or maybe he just doesn't like disco in general.

More Firsts

Gary experienced several more firsts this weekend.  He had his first road trip (to Virginia Beach).  He met his first dog (Buster, a lovable Mini Pin).  And he went to his first party (a surprise party for Aunt Shannon), which was held at his first bar!  Gary handled all of these new experiences -- including the long car rides -- with aplomb.  Here are some photos from the weekend.

Lunch Time!

Nap time for Gary means lunch time for mom (assuming that nap time isn't on mom's chest)!

Bonus Time

And here is another picture, just because we like it.

Gary Loves Public Transportation

Gary took his first ride on Metro today!

He behaved very well; actually, he slept the whole time.  He also slept while he met daddy's coworkers during a stop at the office.  They thought that he was pretty awesome, though.

Goodbye for now!

It Just Takes Two

Daddy went back to work today.  Mommy and Gary missed him but managed just fine.  Mommy wore Gary in the Moby wrap while she ate breakfast and wrote thank-you notes.  Gary chilled in the co-sleeper with only a few whimpers while mommy showered.

Then they had their first outing without dad -- a walk to the post office to mail the notes and Dunkin Donuts to buy coffee for mom.
Mommy and Gary had a nice time.  The weather was beautiful and there were a lot of people walking their dogs.  Mommy explained about dogs and Michael Jackson (whose song Rock with You was playing in the donut shop).  It isn't clear how much Gary took in, but mommy hopes that one day he is a fan of both dogs and MJ!
Gary stayed awake for the walk but was really tired once he arrived home!

Tomorrow it is back to the pediatrician!

Friends

Gary has been meeting so many new friends.  Here are a few of the people who he's met since returning home.

Wesley and Cheryl
Kate and Lee (all the way from Australia!)

Like Father, Like Son

Gary and daddy took a nap together this morning.

They apparently like to sleep in the same position!

The Beautiful Briny Sea

And now for a slightly more indirect movie reference!  The pediatrician said that Gary was ready to start having some "tummy time," so he played on his ocean-themed activity mat for the first time yesterday.  Gary spent a good five minutes on his tummy, and then we flipped him to his back so he could see the cool attachments.  (Thank you for the fun gift, Uncle Matt!)

And here is a bonus picture -- just because it fits the title of this post -- of Gary sleeping with the fishes.

Funny Face

No, it's not the 1957 film featuring Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire -- it's Gary!

So Big!

Daddy thought that mommy's idea to weigh Gary using the kitchen scale was a little crazy.  Mommy thought that it was incredibly practical, even if Gary did not like it so much.

Gary was weighed on a proper scale at the pediatrician's office today, and the doctor said that he is doing great!

Nap Time

Gary has a favorite place to sleep, and it is on his mommy!

Firsts

One has many firsts when one is less than two-weeks old!  Here are a couple of Gary's.

Mommy and daddy gave Gary his first bath the day after they came home from the hospital.  His favorite part was being warmed and dried afterward!

Gary went on his first walk around the neighborhood at one-week old.  He seems to like his stroller -- he fell quickly asleep once the exercise commenced!  Gary also received a number of admiring comments from people that mommy and daddy met in the elevator.

Gary Meets His Family

Gary has been lucky to spend lots of time with his grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousin.  He can't wait to hang out again!
