Apparently all of the photos of mommy and Gary in the pool of are poor quality.  However, here is one that daddy took before mommy and Gary hopped in!

Happy Eight-Month Birthday!

Gary turned eight months old today.  To celebrate, he tried peas for the first time.  He didn't spit them out or look like he wanted to gag, so he must have liked them!  And yesterday he stood up unsupported for the first time.

Here is a picture of Gary playing before bathtime.  What a big boy!

Water Baby

Today Gary and mommy went to his first "swimming" class at a local high school.  The class mostly consisted of mommy swishing Gary through the water and Gary trying to drink the water like a baleen whale.  He loved it!  Next week daddy will come along to take some action shots.  For now, here is the picture that mom took before leaving the locker room for the pool.

Now that Gary is moving around, and given that our apartment is basically babyproof-proof, we opted to purchase a play yard for Gary to sit in and play.  Our living room looks like a demilitarized zone!

We haven't been very good about updating the blog in recent weeks.  That this is happening shortly after Gary learned to crawl is almost certainly related.  Some assorted photos from the last few weeks:

In addition to crawling, Gary is now in the habit of pulling himself to his feet. A couple of weeks ago, Daddy found Gary in his crib in the following state after leaving him alone for a minute to put on his shoes:

A couple of days earlier, here is Gary on his knees.
This prompted us to lower Gary's crib. Looks like we
fixed that just in time!
