Happy 11-Month Birthday!

Gary turned 11-months-old today.  He was hoping to see daddy, who was scheduled to return home from his annual trip to Indiana, but daddy's flight was delayed.  (Gary can see daddy when Gary wakes up in the middle of the night, though!)

During dinner, Gary started to throw all of his remaining puffs on the floor, so mommy thought that he was done eating.  Instead, it appears that he wanted to eat off the floor.  This kid must be chock full of "good germs."

Failure to Cooperate

Gary decided not to oblige mommy and did not let her take footage of him walking.  She hopes you'll settle (for now) for a video showing one of his more creative crawling techniques.

Gary Walks!

Gary took his first steps yesterday at daycare, and now he seems to be getting into the groove.  Mommy saw two steps this morning while she was getting ready for work and a few more when she picked him up from daycare today.  We'll try to capture some video tomorrow!

Changes

Apologies for not updating the blog in a while, but while we were on vacation in early June two big things happened.  First, our offer to buy a house was accepted, and second, mommy was offered a new job with the government and decided to accept it.  Since then, we've been busy packing, moving, and unpacking, and mommy has been wrapping up myriad loose ends at her current -- soon to be old -- job.  We promise to post new pictures soon!  (Perhaps even in time for his 11-month birthday on Tuesday.  Eleven months!)

In the meantime, becoming automobile commuters has given us more time to expose Gary to music (and to NPR and podcasts, which he doesn't appear to like nearly as well).  Today he particularly dug these two songs:

"I Want You to Want Me" by Cheap Trick

(Only fitting because one of mommy's and daddy's most memorable early dates was to see Cheap Trick at the Fairfax County Fair.)

"I Was Made to Love Her" by Stevie Wonder

He may also enjoy listening to mommy singing along. . . .
